Immediately following the telecast of the 80th Academy Awards®, the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosted the Governors Ball at the Grand
Ballroom of the Hollywood & Highland Center®.
Oscar winners, nominees, telecast participants and Academy guests joined
Ball Chair Cheryl Boone Isaacs and Academy President Sid Ganis to celebrate
the film achievements of 2007.
The Ball, produced by Cheryl Cecchetto of Sequoia Productions, featured a
color palette derived from two of Hollywood's most recognizable icons: The Red
Carpet and the Gold Oscar statuette. Guests entered under an array of delicate
clouds of glass bubbles and firefly lights.
Infused with shades of rich gold and red, augmented by mirror treatments
framed in accents of black, the atmosphere of this year¹s Ball was a setting
for elegance and contemporary glamour.
For the 14th consecutive year, Wolfgang Puck and his team developed a menu
specifically for the event. The Academy's 1,500 guests enjoyed Thai spiced
shrimp with holy basil and candied ginger, bruschetta of figs, goat cheese
and organic prosciutto as well as Wagyu beef with Chinese broccoli shiitake
stir-fry with black truffle macaroni and cheese.
