This four-week seminar will offer a detailed look at the editing process from the perspective of motion picture editors themselves. Each session will feature film clips and open discussion between audience and guests (subject to availability).

Sept. 14th – Editing Interface – The Editor/Director Relationship

Sept. 21st – Anatomy of a Cut

Michael Tronick (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, True Romance)
Sept. 28th – Cultural and Technological Influences on Editing Style
Donn Cambern (The Bodyguard, Easy Rider)
Richard Chew (The New World, Star Wars)
Michael Jablow (Beauty Shop, Old School)
Lynzee Klingman (Man on the Moon, Hearts and Minds)
Richard Marks (Spanglish, Apocalypse Now)

Oct. 5th – The Editing Team
Kent Beyda (Scooby-Doo, Alien Nation)
Joel Cox (Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River)
Maysie Hoy (What Dreams May Come, The Joy Luck Club)

In addition, each week will include a lobby artifact display illustrating the evolving technology of the film editing process from the Moviola to digital equipment.

A special screening of the documentary The Cutting Edge will be held on September 23 at 7:30 p.m. and will be free to seminar attendees.
