West Bank Story |
In 1997 (with the nominated films from 1996), the Academy began presenting its "Shorts!" program in the spring, following the Academy Awards. The event sold out every year, as audiences embraced the opportunity not only to see the nominees and winners in the Animated and Live Action Short Film categories, but also to hear from some of the filmmakers.
Then two years ago, the Academy tried something different: screening the films the week before the Oscars®. Last year, a packed house was treated to two panel discussions with all of the nominated filmmakers in both categories, hosted by past Animated Short Film winner Chris Wedge. The event promises to provide those in attendance with an insider's look at these two categories before the winners are announced on Sunday, February 25.
