Renée Zellweger presented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards on March 3, 2001, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Portions of the Scientific and Technical Awards were taped for inclusion in the 73rd Academy Awards broadcast, including the presentation of Oscar statuettes to Irwin W. Young, the recipient of the Academy's Gordon E. Sawyer Award, and to Rob Cook, Loren Carpenter and Ed Catmull of Pixar for their significant advancements to the field of motion picture rendering.

Zellweger also appeared on the Oscar telecast to introduce the Sci-Tech segment.
