Edmund M. Di Giulio received the Gordon E. Sawyer Award.

Actress Charlize Theron presented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Awards on Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire.

An Oscar® statuette, the Gordon E. Sawyer Award, was one of 25 awards presented at the gala black-tie dinner. It went to Edmund M. Di Giulio for his lifetime of technological contributions to the industry.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also awarded Ray Feeney the John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation for his pioneering efforts to improve visual effects in the motion picture industry.

Portions of the presentation were taped for inclusion in the 74th Academy Awards® broadcast.
